In the cart

Going to walmart for the first time... Not sure what to think...

October- 4 months!!

Oh my baby is getting soo big and I just love him more and more each day! So on the 9th Lucas went in for his four month check-up. He wasn't able to see his regular doctor though because she was going to be out until the 22nd- today- so, we saw another doctor in the clinic. Lots of things happened at the doctors appointment, let me see if I can remember them all and get them all in... ;)

My poor boy got his shots, but was so good. He only screamed for like 30 sec. afterwards and like 5 min later I had him laughing and he didn't seem to have any other problems (like sore legs or what not). Such a sweet boy!

He weighed 13 lbs 7.5 oz and is 24 1/4in. long. This puts him in the 21st percentile... Gus is worried that he isn't big enough, but the doctors aren't. They said that he is small but is in his same growth pattern that he has been in since birth. If he had dipped down then they would be concerned. Although I found out that when he was born at 7lb 5.5 oz that was only the 34%- I thought it would be more average... oh well. The doctor said if at his six month appt he was still down then maybe they would be more worried... I think he is perfect and getting to big anyway! ;)

The doctor also said that he could start solids now. I was surprised, I thought that they would be waiting until six months, but apparently it is 4 to 6 months- so starting after the fourth month. He said to start with rice cereal and I also asked about sweet potatoes and he said that that would be good. So that day we got some baby food and tried it. He ate it fine, but his tummy didn't seem to feel so good after that. So, we waited another day and then tried it again- he ate even better, but his tummy still seemed to not like it too much. So, we are just going to wait a bit longer- although he is getting more and more interested in what we are eating and wanting it too...

Here is a video of him eating rice cereal for the second time. Sorry the quality isn't too good. It was done on my phone and it doesn't have a very good camera.

Here he is about ready to eat rice cereal.

We tried sweet potatoes a few days later and he seemed to really like them. Here is a picture of that.

I also asked the doctor about his reflux because he was on his last bottle of Zantac and needed a refill. This doctor didn't seem to think he needed it and said that starting the solids will help him and he should be good. I kind of felt like he just blew me off, but I thought, "Well, maybe it will. Let's try it." Just to be on the safe side though I asked if I should just call in if he does need the refill and the doctor was like "I guess, ya." Humm... anyway- that brings us to a week later...

So a week later he seemed to really not be feeling well. He started not eating well- he would pull off and had started arching his back again. He was also really whiny. He also had started spitting up a lot more and it stunk really bad. Finally on Thursday I wasn't satisfied with the doctors response and decided not to wait until his doctor get back (she's the one who diagnosed him in the first place). I asked around about a doctor that people liked and tried to get into see her, but they couldn't get me in until Friday morning. While that is actually pretty quick, when your baby doesn't feel good and isn't eating right, it seems like forever. On Friday the doctor saw him (I liked both her and her nurse- she actually has been my favorite nurse of all). (Oh, did I mention that Lucas was up every two hours during the night??) She agreed that he needed something and decided to prescribe him Prevacid solutabs. They said to give the pharmacy an hour and a half to fill the prescription. So, 3 hours later I go to pick-up the prescription and it isn't there... Apparently it isn't covered by our insurance so they have to get a doctors authorization... I called the doctors office and they said that they'd go and talk to someone and get back with me. It took them a few hours and when they called they said that it would be 3-4 working days before it would be approved and for now I could give him 1cc of Zantac twice a day. What? That's next Thursday! and I was already giving him 1.3cc's twice a day... Oh, they thought it was 1.3 once a day... and apparently that's the max dosage for his weight so they can't really do anything else. But if it's too bad I could bring him in the next day (Saturday) because that same doctor was working. Why do I have to bring him back in? What would they do that they couldn't do now?? Anyway, someone mentioned that I could maybe just pay for the meds and then be reimbursed. So, I called the pharmacy and asked what the cash price was and about reimbursement... $279.00 for the meds!!!! What?!?!? and you can only be reimbursed if it has been authorized already... (well, why would you pay for it if it has been authorized?) Ya, I don't have that kind of cash just hanging around... Poor baby. Luckily he seemed to be a little better on Saturday, so we didn't go in. We are just waiting now. Sunday was worse then Saturday and today seems to be bad too- but he has been sleeping for most of the day. Which I'm glad for because besides needing the sleep- I woke up on Sunday with a heavy chest and kind of a sore throat. My voice sounds funny. Today I've been coughing more and have a bad headache. I sure hope Lucas doesn't get it, but last night his nose has sounded kind of stuffy... My poor boy.

Well, I think that's all I have for now. Sorry if everything seems to be about my beautiful baby, but as a stay at home Mom, that's kind of my life right now. ;) and I love being able to be home with my baby thanks to my wonderful husband who works so hard for us!

pictures

Some pictures from today. Disclaimer- They aren't from a high quality camera. Smiling at Daddy

More power to you!

My baby is getting a double chin!
He hasn't gotten the posing for the camera thing down yet...

Hehe don't let Gus know this picture is on here... hehe I love you Amor!

Three months!

Oops, I didn't get a post in for August, it was a little busy. So recap- Gus's family came to meet Lucas and he was blessed and turned two months old. Gus's Mom took lots of nice pictures of my cute boy which are on Facebook- I'll try to get some pics on here but I'm not using a regular computer and I'm not sure how to do the whole picture thing... we'll see. It was really nice to have all of Gus's family here. His parents came from Brazil and his sister and her family came from Dallas. Our place was kind of crowded. We'll have to get a bigger place next time. ;-)

Later that month I went up to Utah with my Mom to take my sister up to college, so that my Mom didn't have to drive home alone. I was a little worried about how Lucas would do on such a long drive- it takes us about 12 hours normally, and that's only really stopping for gas and to go to the bathroom. Lucas was so good. I sat in the back seat with him and talked to him and fed him (I had pumped milk and then I pumped on the way using a plug adapter with the cigarette lighter) and it only really took us an hour longer. When we stopped I would take him out of his car seat and lay him on the seat to stretch out and then I changed his diaper and nurse him if he was hungry. While we were up there, my brother and his wife had their second child- a girl, who they named Alyvia. She was 7 lbs 4 oz and 20 in. long. She was healthy and my sister-in-law seems to be recovering well (it was a repeat c-section). We then came home the next day. (We left on Friday morning and came home on Tuesday). It was a very quick trip but it was good. None of my family had seen Lucas- besides my parents and Kristen and Jared because they were here. So it was nice. He got to meet his Great Grandma and his Great Grandpa. I wish he could of met my other grandparents, but my Dad's Dad died in March and my Mom's Mom died in June, two weeks after Lucas was born. I'm so glad that we have eternal families and that we will be able to be with my grandparents - and all other family members, provided that we follow God's plan- again.

The night that we got home though, Lucas woke-up not being able to breath very well. His nose was all stuffy and runny. So we were dealing with that for awhile. Poor boy. He seems to be doing better now. Thank goodness.

I just love my little boy! He is so cute. I can hardly believe that he is three months old now. He is laughing and smiling so much. He can roll over from his stomach to his back and he has good control of his head and neck. He is really strong. He can stand up too. (With help of course. :-) ) He has been such a good baby. Oh I forgot. In August we also found out that he has silent reflux that's where they don't actually spit-up, the acid just goes back down, so it burns coming up and going back down. He would choke on it and that scared me. Anyway, the Dr. put him on Zantac and he seems to be doing a lot better. Oh and he loves when his Dad- or anyone, but mostly his Dad, tickles him.

Well that's all I can think of right now. Now I'll try adding pictures' we'll see how that goes. :-)

And tomorrow is Gus's and my two year anniversary! I love my husband. He is such a good husband and father!

Here is a recent picture of my beautiful baby. Sorry my phone camera isnt the best.

Well it looks like I'm not going to get Lucas's birth story on here this month either. It is hard not having internet at home. But Lucas was born June 8th at 11:50pm via c-section. He weighed 7lbs and 5.5oz. He was 21in long. He is healthy and we are both doing good. He is such a wonderful baby and is growing so much!!

My April post in May

Oops, I guess I missed writing in April. There has been quite a lot going on since I last wrote. On the 15th of March we were able to get some awesome 4D pictures of our little boy. He's so cute! hehe well, as cute as one can be on an ultrasound picture at 27.5 weeks. ;) I thought that the picture looked like some of my older brother's baby pictures. We are so excited to have our little one soon. (I'm 35 weeks now).

On the 19th though we got some bad news- my Grandpa wasn't doing very well and they didn't think he would live much longer. So, the next day (Tue.) I drove up with my parent and brother and sister (who was home from Spring Break), to Utah. It was a nice long 12 hour drive. We spent the next few days at the specialty hospital, spending as much time with Grandpa as we could and then on Friday the 23rd, a little before 1pm, he passed away. It was sad, but I know that he is in a better place- without all the pain and suffering he was going through. He was a great man, and anyone would be proud to call him Grandpa! I know that I will be able to see him one day and he will be like himself. I feel bad that my kids wont get to know him here on this earth, but he wasn't the same man he was before anyway.

The funeral was held on Wed.the 28th of March, 2 days before his 51st anniversary. Gus was able to get work off and come up the Tuesday before (27th). I missed my husband a lot during that week... It was kind of stressful having him come up though, because he has never driven that long by himself before, and he said that he didn't trust our dear old truck. We had been looking at other cars because we knew that we would need one with the baby, but were hesitant because we wanted a good car, but we don't have a lot of money. But Gus looked and looked and then a car had just been traded in and it seemed like a good car, so he bought it. and drove up in it. We are now the proud owners of a 2005 Toyota Camry LE. (Well, technically the bank owns it I guess... hah and that in and of its self is another story...). So far, we have really liked our car and it drives nice- such a difference from our 1994 Toyota Pickup... hahaha. We kept our truck though, we figured we could get more use out of it then if we traded it in. and, I'm kind of partial to it since it has been my baby since 2005. ;)

That weekend, we drove down to my other Grandparents, who aren't doing so hot either. My parents succeeded in convincing them to come down and stay with them for a little while. So, it was good that we had another vehicle. Gus and I left early Sat morning and drove the long 12 hours home, bringing my brother and sister with us, while my parents left a little later that day with my Grandparents. There trip was a lot longer because they had to stop more for my Grandparents. We eventually all made it back and my grandparents stayed almost for a month. I think they really enjoyed it, although my Grandma, who's memory isn't very good, kept telling us that they were leaving the next day and we had to keep telling her that she had just gotten here. She started doing better though and they were sad to leave when they did, but my Grandpa had a doctors appointment he had to go to. They said they missed it though and wanted to come back down, so we are hoping that in the next few months that they can come back. When my parents took them back, they drove about half way and my Uncle drove the other half- so they both drove the equivalent of the trip without my parents having to drive for 24+ hours.

And in other news... We got a new apartment!!! kind of... haha We put money down on a bigger place with AC and washer and dryer hook-ups. We are so excited for it. The down side though is that we had to be out of our old apartment by the end of the month, or pay for a full month because they wouldn't pro-rate it. Normally, that would be fine, except that in the new apartment, there were still people living there. They told us that it would take about a week to turn the apartment around. So we decided that to save some money, we would just live with my parents for a week (my Grandparents left that same weekend, so it worked out). But then we found out that the earliest we could move in would be Friday May 11th, but more likely Monday the 14th. So, not that it is a huge deal to stay for two weeks instead of one, but our stuff is taking over my parents house, and my sister is coming home from college either this Thursday or Friday and there isn't much room because our stuff is in the spare bedroom and we are in "her" bedroom, with the double bed. (The bedroom use to be mine and hers and then I went off to college and my parents bought a bedroom set with a double bed so that they could have it for visitors and such, but it was her bedroom now... and then she went off to college and it did become a guest room, but was still "her" room when she came home, and now she will be home for the summer and the room that use to be the office/den/whatever now also has a twin bed in it, but it also has all of our stuff in it and the door barely opens...) So, now we have to figure something out... haha

And the last news I have, that I can think of right now, is that my Doctor told me she was moving. Hummm... so, I needed to get a new one. The good thing is that they are all pretty good and I haven't really heard anything negative about them, but making the decision was hard cuz I worry so much... haha Well, I chose one, and I go see him this week, so I hope it goes well- also my doctors appointments are every week now. We are getting so close to having this baby!!! I am getting more and more uncomfortable and the baby's kicks hurt now and aren't quite as cute... hehe and I'm more tired- which makes moving hard. I'm so lucky that I have such a wonderful husband and family!!! They help me soo much!!!

Lucas, 27 weeks!!

Happy Birthday!

Have I mentioned what an awesome husband I have? I love him so much!! So, my husband wanted to surprise me for my birthday, but he didn't know what to get me and I never know what I want. (everything I want is so expensive!! haha) So, we have been planning to move into a new apartment that has a washer and dryer hook-ups and ac (I don't know if I can handle another summer without ac, especially with a new baby!). As nice as washer and dryer hook-ups are, it is even nicer to have a washer and dryer to go with them, which we didn't have. ;) (We have been doing our laundry at my parents house and I really want to be able to do laundry at my own place, whenever I want, when I have a new baby.) Since we don't have much money, my adorable husband was going to second hand places looking for some good ones- and taking my Mommy with him since he said he doesn't know anything about washer and dryers... Hehe he's so cute! Well, he bought me (us) a washer and dryer! I know that might seem weird to some people, but I thought that he was so thoughtful and cute. Well, things didn't work out so well with the apartment, so he had nothing to give me. (We don't have anywhere to put the washer and dryer right now, so they are still at the store.) He felt bad because he wanted me to have something to open. Well, I also was in need of some maternity clothes and had found some online at Old Navy, so he told me to buy them. So, I did, and they got here the day before my birthday party (we celebrated on Saturday, not Sunday, because my Dad had to leave on Sunday morning for Washington D.C.). But, Gus didn't think that was enough. (For money conscience me, I thought it was more then enough!) He also bought me a book I had thought looked interesting and two movies (Real Steel and the Help). My parents also got me some clothes and my sister got me a necklace and my younger brother gave me coupons for massages- which I am looking forward to, a lot! My family is so good to me! I love them soooooooo very much!! Sometimes I can't believe how lucky I am!

And!!! I went to my doctors appointment and had my Gestational Diabetes test and it came out normal. I was so happy! I thought for sure that I would have Gestational Diabetes because diabetes runs on both sides of my family and my Mom had Gestational Diabetes with my younger sister, plus, I love sweets! haha, I do try to eat right though. My doctor said that my belly was measuring good and we get to have an ultrasound next week. It will be our next official ultrasound since our eight week one to check for the heart beat. We are excited!

My Fab. Feb...

I guess it's time to update my blog, although sometimes I wonder why I even write, I don't think many people read it... maybe it's just for me, since I haven't been writing in a journal or anything else either and I know that I will want to look back on this pregnancy experience... Anyway...

So, I was waiting for my Dr.'s appointment that was on Feb.7th to write so that I would maybe have something to write about. Well, besides getting to my appointment and having my doctor leave suddenly (gotta go when the hospital calls, babies don't wait, or so I hear) and being seen by another doctor, everything looked good and it was boring and normal. (Which are good things in a pregnancy...) So, I was going to write about it on Wednesday the 8th, but I didn't really feel like it and then we had a WIC appointment and later that day I had to go to church (I am in the Young Women's Presidency, as the secretary) for our weekly activity. Then later that night Gus and I were sitting on the couch watching tv and I suddenly had pains in my lower back that were sharp. I thought that maybe they were just gas pains and that they would go away in a little bit, so we just kept watching tv... Then they got worse. I asked Gus to pound on my back to see if that would help but it didn't do much. So, Gus was like, "lets go to bed now and see if it will go away..." Well, the pain got really bad and I was making a lot of noise... and Gus was getting worried. So, we called the doctors office and our nurse told us to go to the hospital. Luckily we live right behind the hospital- literally, we are a block away. So, we went and everyone was thinking that I had a kidney infection, which seemed reasonable to me, seeing as how I had already had a few UTI's this pregnancy... Although, the thought did cross my mind that seeing as how I had just been to the doctors the day before, they should have caught it since they do a urine sample every time, but maybe they had missed it in the doctor transition because my doctor was there when we got there but left before she could see me. Also, I had heard that when you have a kidney infection, it is torture to touch the kidney and for me it helped to hit it and kind of try to "jiggle it" if you will. I was kind of jumping up and down (small jumps) to try to make the pain go away. Either way, I was in pain and wanted it stopped!

So, they got me up in to L&D (Labor and delivery), cuz that's where they send all pregnant women, no matter the problem. They got me all hooked up on the monitors to check on the baby. Baby's heart beat was great and I wasn't having contractions. Although, I wasn't worried about it because I was having ZERO pain in my stomach area (yes, I do know that sometimes labor is back pain, but I really felt like everything was ok with the baby, and it was). So the nurse came in and had me pee in a cup and gave me some perkacet (No idea how to spell it...) which I really don't like, it makes me crazy, and I told the nurse that, but she said, "Well, this is what the dr. said to give you." and then told me that the dr. thinks it is a kidney infection and then they gave me a big o'l shot in the butt for the infection. Well, about 2 seconds after I took the pain meds I threw them up and I was still dying of pain.

The nurse left and then came back in and said that they were  going to have to start an IV. I was fine with that because I had never had a problem with needles and such. Well, they tried one spot and couldn't get anything- not a single drop of blood. Then the doctor on call came in and said that they think I might have kidney stones. Oh yay... it runs in the family. My Dad is a kidney stone making machine! Anyway, she tries to get the IV in my arm this time and finally gets it in, but it doesn't last very long (and I STILL have a bruise from it). Luckily it was long enough to get some pain meds in, that took effect almost immediately. I felt dizzy and I laid down and went to sleep. But then they needed to get a new IV in me, so they call in someone special (I honestly have no idea who it was because I was kind of loopy) and she gets a good one in my other arm that lasts the rest of the time. With all the IV solution they are running through me, I now have to go pee a lot and the pain meds only last about an hour at a time. So I was waking up every hour or so to go pee and get more meds for the pain. They also brought in an ultrasound tech to check my kidneys and ureters (the lines that bring the urine from the kidneys to the bladder) and Gus kept saying "wake up Mickell, they need to check you." Well, I liked the drugged/sleepy state I was in better then the painful awake state and wanted to just say "no, you wake up yourself..." haha but I was to tired to even talk and then I heard the tech say that I was just fine and that it was just as good and I thought "hah!" haha but none of that ever left my brain, too much work to say it all... ;)

Well, the tech told me that I might have some "gravel" in there, but she didn't really see a stone. Humm.. ok, well, just let me sleep... ;) But then all the nurses coming in said that they were told that there was nothing there. Well, after I went pee one time, the nurse says "hey, I think I might have found the source of your pain" and shows me a stone. It was a fairly descent size too, especially if you consider the size of ureters... It was probably about the size of the circle of the 9 or 6 on your keyboard, and it is round- not just a flat circle.

I then basically just slept and peed the rest of the night/morning away. (we went in at about 10:30pm on Wednesday night). I was still in a lot of pain though. At the change of shifts around six I was ready for more pain meds but the nurse said that it wasn't time yet and that she would let the next shift know that I could have it in like 15-20 min. I said ok and then went back to sleep. Well I woke up about 40 min later and was in a lot of pain. So I told Gus to go get the nurse and the new one came in and I told her that I needed my pain meds and that they were suppose to have given them to me awhile ago. She said "well, we don't just give the pain meds out, you have to ask for them." What? I had! I told her and she was like, "well no one told me and we have to do an assessment on you first." So she hooks all the monitors back up to check the baby and everything was just the same, and then she listed to my heart and such and then left. I was in so much pain. I was rocking and crying and made Gus go back out there to get someone to give me my meds and finally they came back in and gave them to me and I went back to sleep. When the new on-call doctor came in around 9am he said that they were just going to watch me, but if I didn't progress then they might have to send me up North to a bigger hospital... oh great. Around 11 they told me that they were going to move me to the regular floor. I was so happy because I had just been in like a triage room this whole time and the bed I was on was made for being able to deliver babies, so the bottom part kept sliding off and it was so uncomfortable.

I was moved around one and the room was so nice, but the nurses weren't as good. Well, so that this post doesn't get too much longer, because I know that I have a tendency to write long posts, I''ll just say that I basically slept and peed the rest of the time while trying to get help from the nurses. I was released around 11 on Friday afternoon. (after they discussed sending me back to L&D because they were short staffed there and L&D was slow) I was sent home with antibiotics (which they said that I would have to take for the rest of my pregnancy) and painkillers. I spent Friday basically sleeping.

Friday night though I didn't feel very good. I felt so bloated! But the weird thing was, it was clear up in my upper stomach area. We just kind of figured that the baby had decided to expand because he has been in my lower ab area this whole time. I went to bed and kind of felt better Saturday morning, but then it just got worse. Sunday morning I went to church, but just felt horrible! My friend who is a nurse at the hospital in the nursery (and the one who actually brought me home from the hospital because Gus and my Mom were still at work) called one of her friends and told me to take some things and call my doctor. Well, I went home and called my doctor, who just happened to be on call. She told me to take some Milk of Magnesia. I hadn't went the bathroom (#2...) since before I had went into the hospital and she said that all the pain meds I was on had backed me up. Which, at this time, is also what I was thinking, but I didn't know what to do about it. Gus ran to the store and bought me some and I felt a small relief almost instantly. But because of how my system works and how backed up I was, I only really felt better on Tuesday when everything was able to leave... Which is actually kind of a long time if you think about it...

Now, lets add to the story just to make it fun... ;) So, on Tuesday my doctors office called and said they had heard that I was in the hospital and they wanted to know what meds I was on. So I told them that they had put me on an antibiotic- a strong dose for a week and then a lower one for the rest of the pregnancy, and then my pain medicine. She said ok, and that she hoped I was feeling better. Well, about a half hour later, my actual doctor called, not just the nurse, and told me that the antibiotic they had given me was one that my body doesn't respond too and that she needs to give me a different one. Oh great... the kicker was though that this one had to be taken 4 times a day for a week, and then 2 times a day after that for the rest of the pregnancy. Have I ever mentioned how much I hate waking up in the middle of the night? I know, just getting me prepared for having a baby... So, besides the times I wake up now to go pee, I have to set my alarm to wake me up to take my meds every 6 hours. Luckily last night was the last night of that and now I just have to take it every 12 hours... Oh, and a side effect of this medicine? Diarrhea.... great, so now I'm on the opposite side of the spectrum... ;) And the info packet said not to take anything for it unless you talk to you doctor first. Fun...

Well, now that I've just told you all more then you probably wanted to know... At least everything seems to be going good with our baby. He's kicking and moving around and getting bigger- and my stomach actually did kind of "pop" during all this and the baby has moved up, so now I actually look pregnant and not just fat. I can actually feel my stomach stretching. I know when a growth spurt is happening. Haha. It's kind of exciting, but a little uncomfortable at the same time... ;) We are getting so excited to meet our little guy. I am now officially 6 months, as of Monday, 24 weeks. 16 more weeks to go!

Also, hope you all had a Happy Valentines Day. That day marked 2 years since Gus and I's first date. We didn't do much because I wasn't feeling to good and that Tuesday Gus had classes all evening. But, it was still nice and I love my husband more then ever. He is my best friend and I am so glad that I get to be his wife! and I know that he will be an awesome Daddy! He truly is the greatest and I am so lucky!!!

The Holiday's and other news!

So, Gus and I had a very good Christmas and a happy New Year celebration. We even got a little Christmas present early. The Friday before Christmas (the 23rd) we got lots of snow, well technically that was just the beginning because it snowed all that day and into the 24th too, I heard that in all we got 11 in. which is crazy for here, but we had a nice white Christmas, which I love! But, that isn't the exciting news! We got to find out the gender of our baby! and we are having a... boy! We are so excited. We waited until Christmas to tell our families. We might have slipped up though and said "he" a few times, so my family was all saying "it's a boy isn't it?" So, we thought we'd trick them. :) We got some little baby girl slippers and wrapped them up and then had my Mom open them. The box said "and the baby is a..." and then she opened it up. We then handed another present to my Dad and had him open it. This time inside the box we had a cute little boy's outfit and a note that said "just kidding, it's a boy!" So, everyone was excited. Most of us thought that it was going to be a girl, and I guess it still could be... hahah we shall see. The next day we were all going to go up to Utah to visit family, but because of the snow, the roads were all icy, so, we had to wait until Tuesday. We first visited my Mom's parent's, who are getting older. My Grandma had recently fallen and broken her nose and had a black and blue face. She also doesn't remember things very well, so it was hard. She has been sick too and has lost soo much weight and is like a bean pole. She didn't know why her clothes didn't fit her anymore, but she didn't recognize new clothes as hers and so she didn't wear them, and then she just couldn't get those "smudges" off her glasses (they were really, really scratched from the fall and her new ones hadn't come in yet), she was trying to clean them every five minutes. It was sad to see my Grandma like that, but I was also very glad to be able to still spend time with my Grandma and Grandpa, who I love so very much! We use to spend every summer with them at their house and there are so many memories there. On Thursday we went up farther north to see the rest of our family. Gus and I stayed with his sister and her family and my parents and younger brother and sister stayed with my older brother and his family (all about 15 min. apart).  It was really good to see almost all of our family. Gus's parent's were up from Brazil, also staying with his sister because his sister had just had a baby on the 10th. He is sooo cute! So, we got to spend time with them, which is nice because I hadn't seen them since our wedding, a year and a half ago (although we talk online quite often). This time, to announce the gender of our little one, we just wrapped up one box and Gus's Dad opened it. He has said that it would be a boy all along! They were all so excited! We also got to see my Dad's Dad, who is now in a care center. It is hard to see, but my Grandma just couldn't give him all he needed. His memory is also not so good... but he does seem to be doing better then last time we saw him (at his house) and he can still leave for parties and such. My aunt and her family moved in with my Grandma, so she isn't all by herself either. It was also good to see my brother and his wife and their cute 6 month old son! He is getting soo big! It was good to see almost all my aunts and uncles. We celebrated New Years in Brazil (through tv via the internet) early with Gus's family so that his sister could put her two cuties to bed and then we went and had a party with my Dad's family and got back to Gus's sister's place just in time to see fireworks that went off right by her house. It was a good night. Then on Sunday, his's sister's baby was blessed. Monday we headed back home. People had to go back to work and I've been trying to get my life more organized! haha Hopefully I can do better now that I am feeling better! Oh, and Gus and I believe that we have felt our baby kicking! :) Both my doctor and the ultrasound lady said that he is quite the mover. and now I will leave you a picture of our baby, Lucas Antonio (we both like the name Lucas, and it is the same in Portuguese and English, and then we thought that Antonio went well with it, and it is Gus's Grandpa's name (His Dad's Dad).We love this little guy soo much!
